Hi Manuel,
I had to implement this note for a recent SEPA implementation here and I had to do the same thing with the assistant. I would say there is no consequence here because you can always turn the assistant back on but you are following the direction of the forward correction as mentioned in the note.
I forgot to mention - I think switching off the assistant allows you to make the change using the GUI (but this was a couple of months back so I can't recall exactly what the steps were).
